Rosie Catalano is a disarming chanteuse whose lyrics balance bittersweet nostalgia with playful humour to create vivid, cinematic songs.

The Sydney-based guitarist and songwriter embarked on a solo career following her 2009 collaboration with Little  Birdy and she is fast making an impression, garnering herself a nomination as finalist for APRA’s Professional Development Award in 2011 and more recently featured on Triple J’s Unearthed Featured Music (20 July 2011) and as ABC Radio National’s ‘Album of the Week’ (23 May 2011).

Described as mesmerising and quietly hilarious, Rosie is an enchanting performer both on stage and in the studio. In 2010 she crowd-funded her debut EP, offering original songs, signed EPs and even home concerts as rewards. Produced and arranged by Miss Little’s Sarah McCallum, the EP features a stellar line-up of guest musicians including Terepai Richmond (The Whitlams, Missy Higgins), Neal Sutherland (Bertie Blackman) and Brian Campeau (The Rescue Ships).

A compulsive raconteur, Rosie came to music through her writing. Her evocative, vignette-style prose has been published in the anthology Nine Tenths Below (Halstead Press), and the adventurous illustrated novel, Mitsu: The Dark Witch and The Dream Wilderness (Trafford). Ever unique, Rosie’s works capture the quirky and honest notes in her world.
